Biological assays available

Different assays are available to assess the therapeutic potential of your molecules of interest.

Endocrinology
  • Determination of the inhibition activity of your molecules for different steroidogenesis enzymes: steroid sulfatase,17β-HSD1, 17β-HSD2, 17β-HSD3, 17β-HSD5, 17β-HSD7, 17β-HSD10 (Donald Poirier)
  • Determination of the estrogenic, anti-estrogenic, androgenic and antidrogenic activities in vitro (ER+ and AR+ cells) (Donald Poirier)

Oncology
  • Test of cell viability (normal and cancer cells*)
    (ex: MCF-10A, Lymphocyte,  MCF-7*, T-47D*, ZR-75-1*, LNCaP*, PANC-1*, OVCAR-3*, HL-60*, Shionogi*) (Donald Poirier)

  • Evaluation of the antiproliferative activity of drugs on several tumour cell lines (wild-type or chemoresistant) (René C.-Gaudreault)
  • Effect and evaluation of drugs on the cell cycle progression (René C.-Gaudreault)
  • Evaluation of the affinity of antimitotics to the colchicine-binding site on tubulins (René C.-Gaudreault)
  • Separation and detection of proteins by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and western blot (René C.-Gaudreault)
  • Evaluation of the antitumor activity and the systemic toxicity of drugs on Human fibrosarcoma tumours (HT-1080) grafted onto the chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM assay). The assay allows the evaluation of the toxicity of a drug on a developing chick embryo together with its effect on tumour growth and angiogenesis. (René C.-Gaudreault)
